The mission of the Phillips County Healthcare Foundation is to raise funds for educational opportunities, capital needs and related programs and services to support Melissa Memorial Hospital in delivering quality healthcare to the community it serves. |
In early 1994, the
Board of Trustees of the East Phillips County Hospital District endorsed
the creation of a separate Foundation for the hospital as part of their
long-range planning. The non-profit charitable tax exempt status
was granted in March, 1995. |

Foundation with an on-going endowment program is a major way to assure
the long term stability of rural "community-owned" hospitals.
Holyoke's residents need and deserve close-to-home health care services. people respond better to medical treatment when they are near their natural home environment and close to their loved ones. In addition, a modern health care facility close to home can make a difference between life and death. The services provided by Melissa Memorial Hospital include: acute care, emergency, diagnostic, surgical, obstetrical & newborn, swing bed an outpatient care as well as home health, physical therapy, cardiac rehab and Family Practice of Holyoke. The hospital and these entities recognize their responsibility to make services available to all persons and their duty to adhere to high standards. Aside from providing care to you and your family, Melissa Memorial Hospital has a vital economic impact on the surrounding area. |
MMH
employs about 100 full-time and part-time individuals. Its annual
payroll exceeds $2,600,000 with an additional institutional local
purchasing power of over $215,000.
Economists estimate that dollars spent are turned over six times in the service area. this translates into more than $10,500,000 impact dollars being spent in Holyoke every year in some form or another because of the hospital's presence. If the hospital closed, it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to replace the positive economic impact on the area. Moreover, one of the most important considerations for people deciding to remain or move into a given area is the availability of local health care. People will reside where their local health care is available. This drastically affects the current and future population base of a region. the future of a community is threatened when local health services are no longer readily available. |
Your gifts to the Foundation will provide you the satisfaction of knowing successive generations will share and benefit from your generosity and "heart for giving." The Foundation qualifies to receive tax-deductible contributions. Depending upon your tax bracket, a part of your gift may be a direct tax deduction, and when routed through the Northeast Colorado Enterprise Zone may give you additional tax benefits. |
